National Music Theater Competition

The National Music Theater Competition is the first national competition for the music theater soloist. 



NMTC:  National Music Theater Competition.  This unique competition is the first in the USA for music theater soloists.  Go NATS!  The first round is via video submission or in person in New York.  Approximately 24 singers advance to the semifinal and final rounds to be held during the NATS Winter Workshop January 10-12, 2020 in New York City. Abridged Details:


Deadline to Apply: September 15, 2019 (before registering, be sure you are available to participate in the national semifinals and finals January 10-12, 2020)


Entry Fee: $90 (or $75 for students of NATS members).


Prizes: The winner is awarded more than $5,000 in prizes in addition to a concert at the 56th NATS National Conference to be held in Knoxville, Tennessee, June 26-30, 2020.a concert at the next NATS National Conference (not to mention the experience gained and the exposure received by singing for so many vocal professionals).


Age: Applicants must be between ages 20-28 as of the application deadline date.


Repertoire: for the preliminary round - three contrasting music theater songs from a musical (can be filmed), revue or song cycle.  For the semifinal round - seven contrasting music theater songs from a musical (can be filmed), revue or song cycle.  Finalists will prepare a 20 minute recital from the 7 songs.
