Categories and Repertoire

This year, the Cal-Western Regional Auditions will include the following genres: Commercial Music (CM), Classical Music (CL), Musical Theater (MT) and American Negro Spiritual (ANS).  Information on all genres can be found in the documents below.

For the categories that advance to the national auditions (1-8 in all categories; 9/10 in CM and CL and all 3 ANS categories), we are adhering very strictly to national rules. Posted below are terminology definitions, category requirements, and rubrics.  Please read all the repertoire and accompaniment requirements carefully as some of them have changed from previous years, especially in Commercial Music.  The full national regulations can be found on the Registration page.

Please note: a student's category is determined by their age on September 1, 2024. All videos should be recorded after this date.  Please plan accordingly.
